Get to Know an Agent in Attendance: Diego Harrison of SBR Media

Diego Harrison is a literary agent with SBR Media.

“I’m Diego Harrison, a literary agent at SBR Media and Association of American Literary Agent member, with 15 years experience in the publishing industry and a deep love for books across many genres. I’m looking for unique voices and storytellers who I can help reach unlimited success. I am resolute in connecting my clients with the top publishers in the world, both big and small, as well as maximizing returns on works. This includes strategic partnerships and opportunities to elevate my clients to the highest financial and career gains.”

Diego’s list is built around two things above all else: horror and romance, with dark romantic suspense sitting right at the intersection of both. If a manuscript has a genuinely unsettling premise, a voice that won’t let go, or a romance twisted up with real danger, that’s the sweet spot.

He is actively looking for romance across its commercial subgenres, from contemporary romance and rom-coms to romantic suspense, dark romance, sports romance, small-town romance, and high-concept love stories. He’s especially drawn to a distinctive voice, undeniable chemistry, and premises that immediately give him something to pitch. He’s open to both lighter, escapist romance and stories that venture into darker territory.

He’s equally hungry for thrillers, suspense, and horror, particularly psychological and domestic thrillers, high-concept suspense, and horror with an original premise. Mystery and crime elements are welcome, especially when they cross into these areas.

He’ll also consider upmarket and book-club fiction with a strong commercial hook, as well as select middle grade and YA. Fantasy, romantasy, and science fiction are the exception rather than the rule for him; he passes on most of what comes through in that lane and only bites when the concept is genuinely singular and the prose announces itself immediately.

What he’s chasing across every category: a pitch he can say out loud and sell, a voice that’s unmistakably its own, and pacing that doesn’t let the reader coast.
